My work is guided by psychology rather than genre. I’m interested in creating images that evoke a strong emotion with the audience, delivered with a distinct visual style. I love exploring the character’s relationship with the world around them and how others view them- whether that story is told through a narrative, documentary or commercial medium.

“When watching Jass Foley’s work you are immediately in the cinematic- visual storytelling for the emotional & poetic experience. Though referred to as an emerging talent his work comes from a wise and considered soul.”

Working with Jass Foley has been a really rewarding creative experience. He brings a blend of technical mastery and adventurous spirit to every shoot. Jass approaches each project with the same bold curiosity- embracing unusual setups, constantly exploring new ways to capture feeling and atmosphere. Most importantly, he’s a generous collaborator- open, enthusiastic, and always up for a creative challenge.
— Mia Mullarkey, Director.

“I was impressed with how eloquent the cinematography was- it had a sensitivity to natural light and an intimacy photographically. It really drew me in, the way the camera moved, the use of the aberrations of light that chimed in with the spectral ghostliness of it and the idea of the mental state of the protagonist.
Jass Foley’s cinematography is the best cinematography this year.

Jass demonstrated a remarkable ability to manage the complexities of a large-scale set. The production relied heavily on visual effects, set extensions, green screen, and advanced LED Volume technology. His coordination of intricate cinematography was outstanding, skillfully planning and executing shots that were both visually striking and technically demanding.

He has an exceptional ability to remain composed under pressure, keeping the crew focused and ensuring we wrapped on time without compromising the quality of the shots. I’m very proud to have had Jass on our team. His ability to adapt, lead, and consistently deliver high-quality work makes him an invaluable asset to any production.

Jass has a natural gift for making you feel assured and safe through his emotional connection to the script and the process. As a performer, his eye for capturing moments of magic makes you want to delve deeper into every scene. Jass is one of the most dedicated and instinctive cinematographers I’ve ever worked with.

“Jass consistently finds ways to elevate a director’s vision with versatility, innovation, and a deep understanding of storytelling. His unique process is rooted in psychological insight which allows him to craft visual language that mirrors the emotional complexity of characters and worlds alike.
He is an essential force on set.”
Mark Smyth, Director.

He instantly connected with the project, was thoroughly committed to maximising the creative opportunities in the script and achieving the best shots in close collaboration with our director. The shoot was ambitious and challenging as we had to balance budget constraints with large grip and pyrotechnic teams, managing long hours, and, of course, adapting to the unpredictable Irish weather! Jass remained a dedicated, creative and calm presence throughout.
